The Secret To Enjoying Email On Your iPad
It’s no secret that I love my iPad. It’s my favorite tech toy, the device that I use every day for almost everything that I need to do online: check email, catch up on news, read magazines, watch videos, take pictures, play games. I use my iPad to do the things that I need to do as well as the things that I want to do. It comes with me when I go for coffee, watch the TV news, and travel.
For the longest time, however, one activity really frustrated me on my iPad: email. It just wasn’t as comfortable as I knew it could be. After all, I was checking email everywhere – at coffee shops, kitchen tables, and on my favorite La-Z-Boy lounger – but the process simply wasn’t suited for my iPad. I felt like I was doing email on my desktop, but I wasn’t at my desk. All the comfort that accompanied everything else I was doing on my iPad just wasn’t happening with email.
Apparently, I wasn’t the only person who felt this well. In fact, according to a survey conducted by Perion Networks Ltd, lots of people who own iPads aren’t satisfied with their iPad email apps. The survey, conducted among 4400 iPad owners in the USA, found that 90 percent of people rank checking email on their iPad as very or extremely important, and more than 60% do it more than three times every day. However, just 41 percent of people said they are “extremely satisfied” with their iPad email apps. That’s pretty low considering how enthusiastic iPad owners usually are.
Anything that we do often should be as comfortable as possible, right? Even more so if it is something that’s really important. Plus, if we’re checking email over coffee at a favorite café, shouldn’t the experience be pleasant?
Clearly, the world needs an email app designed especially for the iPad. Something that doesn’t just copy-and-paste a desktop interface onto a smaller screen, but truly makes use of the iPad’s touchscreen environment. An app that maximizes iPad features to enhance the visual element of email, an app that enables people to tap through messages in a conversation in a way that makes sense.
Email is here to stay, and that’s no secret. It’s also no secret that email on iPad is better than email anywhere else. But the potential of a truly native iPad email app is huge, and users are anxious to literally put their hands on it.
