Smart City Session @ WIRED Mobility Conference
WIRED Mobility Conference, Berlin November 26, 2015
WIRED organized their first conference in Germany in Berlin and choose the topic of Mobility as their core theme. Organized was the event by their Partner Gründerszene (Axel Springer Publishing) and main partner was Audi.
MLOVE was invited to host a Smart City session and invite expert panelists.
In the opening session to the panel, Harald Neidhardt, CEO & Curator of MLOVE showed severals success stories from international cities including Hamburg.
He emphasized the chance of accelerating projects by building a active ecosystem of agile partners to connect entities from government, technological providers, startups and urban developers.
In the session, Mirko Bass from Cisco presented a new project that has been developed from idea to real-live operation within 6 weeks. The “Refugee First Response Center” (RFRC) is a medical office for refugee centers that is uniquely equipped with a live video interpreters of more than 50 languages that can be switched on for the most important languages in less than 120 seconds. Together with the University clinic Hamburg-Eppendorf, the Refugee First Response Center is in operation in Hamburg in stealth mode since November 2.
Mara Balestrini from Ideas for Change in Barcelona emphasized smart citizen platforms that she worked on that work as a platform, for example to encourage citizen in Bristol to collect sensor data in an agile way and contribute to make their city improve on sustainability issues or smart city projects.
The session was well received and especially the RFRC presentation with a video that Mirko Bass presented got impromptu applause by the 400+ audience in the room.
WIRED editor-in-chief, Nikolaus Röttger, thanks the speakers and was glad to have the world premiere or the refugee video solution presented at his event at a very vivid and passionate session. He thanked for enriching the day with a focus on people and up-to-date civic issues in cities were we welcome new citizens from distressed regions these days.
