No more hidden workouts – go public!
At the end of April the world’s first individual workout app “Street Workout Squats” was launched for the iPhone. The developers promise an app “that guides you with the voice of your own virtual personal trainer while you pump up your volume”. So what Jane Fonda did to the 80s with the aerobic craze, could very soon happen with “Street Workout Squats”, when people start performing the app’s excercise routines on bus stops or while boarding a plane. The developers are doing everything to make the Street Workout movement into the new “Gagnam Style” and are staging the third annual World Street Workout Championship in Riga, Latvia on August, 3rd. Events in Germany, Russia, Spain, Ukraine and the US are ready to launch this year, too.
Easy and on-the-go
Accessing the phone’s built-in accelerometer, Street Workout Squats automatically keeps track of reps, sets and other
workout data hands-free as the phone stays in your sweatpants’ or shorts’ pocket during the entire workout. User just need to cinch in
their earbuds and listen up while the virtual personal trainer motivates them throughout theentire squat workout routine. A countdown timer tracks the recovery time between sets, so there’s no more need to keep checking the clock! The Street Workout Squats app also includes several easy-to-follow daily training routines in three levels of difficulty and claims that, if followed, within two months the user will be able to perform 200 calisthenic squats in a single routine.
Your new personal trainer
Future updates to the app are already in development and will expand Street Workout Squats into the next-generation iPhone fitness app that will automatically recognize, keep track of and train for a wide array of bodyweight calisthenicsbased exercises such as Pull-Ups, Push-Ups, Dips – and many others – routines that numerous professional personal trainers recommend as the most rigorous, effective and time-efficient workout methods available – without requiring any expensive equipment or gym membership. Street Workout Squats was created by Ukrainian co-developers Nikolay Pavlov and Sergey Shiyan, founders of Biomech, Inc. based in Campbell, California.
